On the edge of the city of Woudenberg Vitens produces drinking water. The wish of the commissioner was to transform the agricultural area into a natural park. By restoring height differences new conditions for developing nature arise. For example by restoring small gradients in height for small differences for dryer or wetter areas, making the terrain diverse and usefull for differ types of land use. A wetland forest, flowery fields and fields for historic grains offer a perfect local mix of landuse. New waterways with shallow slopes help to hold and infiltrate water instead of draining it to the rivers and the sea. The area is connected to a larger through route for pedestrians, showing how the ecological layout helps to produce clear and healthy drinking water.
