Nice to meet you! As an experienced landscape architect I work on the edge of nature and culture. In my designs I ampliphy the best of both worlds to make contemporary and sustainable places. With an unlimited fascination for rough Scandinavian landscapes in sharp contrast with minimalistic contemporary urban design I work on urban and rural planning and design.
Aesthetics and function go side by side, the end result is both breathtaking as well as functional. In all my designs incorporating nature, promoting healthy behavior and defining local characteristics blend into logical concepts.
Building on over 20 years of experience I transform complex issues in clear and logical projects and plans. With a sharp eye for details, but never losing the bigger picture. Rather than telling about it, I’d love to show some of my recent work. A broad selection of small and larger projects combining nature, health, climate adaption and cultural identity. Are you enthusiastic? Please get in touch for a further mutual introduction to elaborate.
Bart Janssen – landscape architect
Incorporating nature
Even the most urban spaces have possibilities for urban nature. Last decades a lot of urban areas have lost their connection to ecology. By integrating urban forms of nature we work on contemporary plans for urban areas with specific attention to climate-adaption. Smart use of grass, trees and natural materials help to reduce excessive heating, rain flooding and monofunctional areas. The abundant or strategic use of climate adaptive elements results in solid, future-proof and contemporary plans.
Promote healthy behaviour
Health is a growing theme of importance in our society. One of the challenges of the future is shaping our living area in such a way that invites to lead a healthy lifestyle. Integrating elements for healthy behavior and physic activities helps, conscious or unconscious, to develop and maintaining a vivid lifestyle. Biking, walking and lingering should form basic ingredients for an every living area. Just a route isn’t enough, the whole ambience and the way it fits in a bigger area is important too.
Enhance local and unique identities
Historic centers, harbors and warehouses form local identies which in turn, are the DNA of most places. Studying the historic context and remains form the basis of both adding new functions or transforming areas to new development concepts.
