A former 28 hectares military complex is currently being redeveloped to a mixed residential and working area with 600-700 houses, 50.000m2 offices and a hotel. Consisting of a natural landscape framework combined with dense urban areas form a mosaic with huge contrast, embedding contemporary architecture in a rural and ecological frame.
In the landscape frameworks the natural infiltration of rain water, ecosystem services, pedestrian and bike routes all find their way. Besides ecology, food is a central element in the new area. Illustrated by a foodforest for public use, a residential orchard and integrated communal gardens and several places to meet, share and discuss help to create a new community for the rapidly growing city of Ede.
